Commercial EV Charging Point Installation

EV Charging Point Installation

Electric vehicles are becoming more and more popular, with the range of cars on the market expending each year. As more drivers switch to electric cars and other EV’s, the need for charging points is quickly outweighing supply. So whether you are looking to switch your companies fleet over to electric vehicles, simply want to provide your employees with onsite access to EV charging or are looking to introduce a public charging point scheme, we can help you with supply and installation of a wide range of charging.

At Quest we are ideally positioned to install commercial EV charging points, with both engineers and advisors specially trained in this area. This allows us to give the best advice on all areas of EV charging and enables us to carry out safe, hassle-free, installation of EV charging points, guiding you from initial concept to completed installation.

Why install an EV charging point?

There are several great benefits to installing an EV charger at your premises;

  • Lower your organisations carbon footprint
  • Enable easy charging for your employees with electric vehicles
  • Enable quick charging times with the use of rapid chargers for company fleets – such as those with electric delivery vehicles
  • Future-proof your organisation – the future of travel is electric!
  • Entice customers – For companies with regular visitors or customers on-site, having charging points is a great benefit to those with electric vehicles.
  • Incentivise employees – having EV charging available for employees is a great company benefit.
  • Easily charge your vehicle at home without the need to leave your car at a charging point elsewhere.
  • Reduce your charging costs. When compared with the cost of using rapid chargers in large networks, installing a charger of your own can significantly reduce your charging costs.

Types of charging points available test

We can supply and install several types of charging points to suite the requirements of your organisation, these range from ultra-fast, rapid chargers to standard chargers.

Slow Chargers

Standard Chargers provide between 3kw and 6kw outputs and are usually used where charging isn’t time sensitive, in places where, for example, employees will be parked up for serval hours at a time. These chargers typically take between 8-14 hours for a full charge, dependent on the type of car.

Fast Chargers

Fast chargers operate at an output of between 7-22kw and the ideal solution for those looking for a balance of cost effective installation and charging time. These chargers typically take between 4 and 6 hours to charge an EV. These are the most common type of charger at commercial premises and smaller public charging schemes.

Rapid Chargers

Rapid chargers usually operate at an output of 50kw and can charge a vehicle in under an hour, dependant on the make and model. While the initial spend on implementing these chargers is higher, they are a must for some organisations, for example those with a fleet of electric delivery vehicles that need to be turned around quickly.

Super-rapid Chargers

Super rapid chargers, typically operate at an output of over 100kw and offer the very latest in charging technology. Charging from  these points is limited to vehicles that support these ultra-high charging rates, an example of which is Tesla and their charging points that are often located at service stations, that operate at rates of up to 150kw. They are ideal for public charging networks that want to offer ultra-fast charging to customers on the road.

OLEV/OZEV Compliant

The Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) and Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) set standards for charging points and we comply with these during installation. This gives you piece of mind that your charging point has been installed to the very highest of standards.

Save with a government grant

OLEV/OZEV Compliant

There are various government grants available to aid you in the install of electric vehicle charging points. The Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) provides grant funding towards the cost of installing electric vehicle charge points at domestic properties across the UK. The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) is a voucher-based scheme that provides support towards the up-front costs of the purchase and installation of electric vehicle charge-points, for eligible businesses, charities and public sector organisations. Domestic properties will receive £350 per household and commercial organisations can claim £350 per charging point, up to a maximum of 40 units, for charging point installation. To claim the government grant a smart charger will need to be installed and a network connection will need to be available, this can be a hard wired network point or 4G connection may be used for more remote locations. Speak to us to find out more about the available grants or find out more on the government here.
