Industrial EICR & Fixed Wire Testing – 1,144 Electrical Circuits

The Project

QUEST Electrical were appointed to carry out a comprehensive Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) for a large flooring and textile manufacturing company, assessing the condition and safety of the site’s existing electrical installation.

The project involved the inspection and testing of 1,144 electrical circuits, providing the client with a detailed assessment of their electrical infrastructure and identifying any defects or areas requiring attention.

Due to the scale of the installation and the operational requirements of the manufacturing facility, the works were programmed across normal working weekdays and five weekends, allowing testing to be coordinated around production activities.

The Challenge

Carrying out a large-scale industrial EICR within an operational manufacturing facility presents several challenges, particularly where electrical circuits supply essential production machinery and equipment.

With 1,144 circuits requiring inspection and testing, careful planning was essential to ensure the works could progress efficiently while minimising disruption to the client’s manufacturing operations.

Many electrical tests require circuits to be safely isolated, meaning testing needed to be coordinated around equipment availability, production schedules and agreed shutdown periods.

The Solution

QUEST implemented a planned fixed wire testing programme, with electrical inspections and testing undertaken throughout the working week and across five weekends.

Our engineers carried out the EICR in accordance with the requirements of BS 7671, assessing the condition of the electrical installation and completing the relevant inspection and testing procedures.

The programme was structured to accommodate the operational requirements of the facility, with weekend working providing additional opportunities to access and test circuits where interruptions to production needed to be carefully managed.

The inspection findings were documented within the Electrical Installation Condition Report, providing the client with a clear record of the installation’s condition and any identified defects requiring attention.

The Result

The project provided the flooring and textile manufacturer with a comprehensive EICR assessment covering 1,144 electrical circuits, supporting the ongoing safety and maintenance of the site’s electrical infrastructure.

By coordinating testing across weekdays and five weekends, QUEST was able to deliver a structured inspection programme designed around the demands of a busy manufacturing environment.
